feel the light shining in the dark of the night | It had only been a short while since he started taking classes at the university, and it was already starting to feel a little taxing. He was keeping up with his studies and the instructor's lectures, but it felt harder than what high school felt like. Not to mention that everyone was in too much of a hurry, with the exclusion of his teammates on the Basketball team. Kisumi was actually one of the best players that was on the team that encouraged them to get even better collectively, and surpass their individual personal goals. Practice had come and gone for the day, and Kisumi was slowly making his way back to his lonely dorm. He dreaded the idea of going back into that room alone. It made him feel isolated and cut off from the world around him. If only there was something to distract him, like a familiar face from his past. The pink-haired teen longed for company in his dorm, the missing half of his university life. Honestly, anyone would do, even one of those silly girls that he's popular with. Alas, he couldn't see any familiar faces at all and he started to become sad as a result.
He could feel his own body start to tremble as he began to become withdrawn. Kisumi finally gave into the idea that he would have to be alone once again as he came upon the Dormitory Hall. His pace became sluggish and erotic for his usual self as he felt an invisible weight press down on him. Kisumi ended up propping himself up against the wall, just next to his dorm room. Kisumi stared down at the doorknob, feeling that his limbs were now heavy like lead. In order to get over all his pent up anxiety, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he did anything else. However, fate might have had other plans for him on this very day.

I'm a sorry sucker and this happens all the time
I found out that everybody talks, EVERYBODY TALKS Everything that had been happening to Makoto since coming to the university was leaving him so shaken and confused. Things with Sousuke seemed to hold the highlights were things with Haru gave him worries. Both situations left him wondering exactly where he stood. Everything felt so much easier a year ago, but he was definitely evolving as a person. His main goal was to make sure everything with Haru stayed good, because he was still hating himself for the damage he'd caused him. A sigh escaped his lips as he walked down the hallway to get to his dorm.
Everything was rather quiet for once, but it was the middle of the week. There weren't any parties or crazy drunken screaming going on around him, and it made him feel much safer. That life wasn't really for him even if he didn't judge. Usually he just felt sorry for them all, wishing they would take better care of themselves. A different side of him, hidden deep down, almost wanted to try and entire that world of letting loose. Even if just once. A drop of alcohol had never even touched his tongue, and he was actually pretty curious about the taste and how to made people feel. He'd heard how it made others feel, but he still couldn't quite grasp it.
Makoto was snapped out of his thoughts by the presence of another human being not to far away in the distance. As he walked closer, he tilted his head to the side, something standing out to him. The other definitely had pink hair, and he'd only seen a shade quite like that one on a single person before. His eyes searched to get confirmation by seeing purple eyes, but he couldn't. The eyes weren't in his view as he'd stared down at the doorknob. However, upon getting a little bit closer, Makoto became sure of who it was. "Kisumi?" He spoke from not too far away.
When he'd gotten in a few feet of him just after he'd spoken, Makoto's eyes widened for a minute before going back to normal. Then his face shifted into a sad expression. Something didn't seem entirely right to him. Maybe he was imagining things, but the vibe he was getting wasn't the usual more lively one he got from Kisumi. Maybe he was just tired. "Are you alright? It's great to see you, but what are you doing out here?"
Was that his own dorm or someone else's? If this wasn't Makoto, he might have been wondering if maybe he'd just visited one of his admirers and this was his look of shame and regret. However, Makoto was sort of oblivious to some things like that. He hadn't seen Kisumi since he'd come to Tokyo, and he was sad to know that he didn't even know Kisumi was going to the same school he was. With them going to different high schools, Makoto had missed quite a bit considering they hadn't talked quite as much as he would have liked to talk to his friend other than calling to invite him and his brother to competitions and things. | | 525 words | x3 |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Kisumi's personality did a complete 180 when he heard Makoto call out his name. "Makoto! Just seeing you made my day, and this is my room~ Would you like to join me? We really need to catch up Makoto~ Or maybe you can show me your room?" Kisumi said to his old friend while he wished that Makoto would take him up on his offer so that they could really get some alone time. He was so lucky to see his friend again and he didn't want to leave Makoto's side at all for the rest of the day. He already had a light pink blush on his cheeks, and he almost had tears in his eyes because he was so happy to see him. Heck, Kisumi would even comfort Makoto if he came to Kisumi for comfort. The idea of the two of them embracing each other in a hug made his heart pound in his chest.
The pink haired boy was determined to keep Makoto company, even if the brunette didn't want it. "This is just going to be like old times Makoto, I promise. But, I also want to talk to you about something in private." Kisumi added as he closed a eye and held his index finger to his lips in a manner of a friendly tease. If everything went according to his plan, then he would finally tell Makoto what he thought about him and finally be free to get everything off his chest that he's been building up for years. Kisumi's only fear was if Makoto was already with someone else that he liked more than him. However, he would accept Makoto's decision whatever it may be because the brunette's happiness mattered more than anything else to him; even if Kisumi would get jealous in the process.

I'm a sorry sucker and this happens all the time
I found out that everybody talks, EVERYBODY TALKS Oddly enough, Kisumi's mood seemed to turn around entirely as he responded to him, causing a smile to grace Makoto's face. The smile didn't completely drown out the worry he had been feeling before, though it helped put him a little more at ease. He was wondering if the sudden change in attitude from Kisumi was fake. Maybe he was pretending and something really was wrong. Makoto couldn't really be too sure, but he was definitely concerned.
"Glad I could help then." Makoto laughed awkwardly, bringing up a hand to scratch the back of his head. He had no idea why he would have made Kisumi's day, but he was assuming it was just because Kisumi liked seeing a friendly face just like Makoto did. Seeing Kisumi definitely helped brighten up his mood a little considering how he'd been feeling so lost walking the campus completely alone only moments ago. "Catching up definitely sounds nice. It feels like it's been forever, and that's way too long." He laughed. "My rooms a ways down yet, but if this is your room we can definitely hang out for a little while." His eyes darted around the hall, landing on a clock. "Yeah, it's not that late yet. I've got some time." He looked back at Kisumi with his usual smile, tilting his head to the side slightly.
"Private?" Makoto blinked a couple of times as he wondered what he could have meant by that. Maybe it was something he was having a hard time with, and he just needed someone to help. Makoto would gladly be the one to try and help him work through any problems, though he really hoped he wasn't struggling or anything. Not even Kisumi's wink of sorts gave away his true intentions. Makoto was so oblivious to things like that. "Sure. Anything you want." His smile returned instantly upon speaking again. | | 314 words | x3 |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Kisumi had so much he wanted to tell Makoto, but he would have to start with the truth that he's kept from the brunette all of these years. "I think it about time I confess why I did what I did when I was in junior high. Ever since I met you that day, I've had a huge crush on you Makoto. And watching you teach my little brother to swim only made my feelings stronger. You're amazing at everything you do, and the nicest person I've met. That's why I want to be with you as much as I can." Kisumi explained to Makoto as his face got redder in color because he was confessing his own feelings. He hoped that he wasn't scaring the brunette away with what he had said. The pink haired boy wanted to spend more time with Makoto, and was determined to do so.
It was then that he took one of Makoto's hands into his own and the brunette would be able to feel the warmth of Kisumi's own hands. "If it's not asking too much, I'd really like to go out with you wherever and whenever you'd like. It really makes me happy to see you happy." Kisumi said with a smile while he hoped that Makoto would consider his request. This actually was Kisumi's own way with dealing with his obsession with Makoto by meeting it head on. However, Kisumi wasn't going to ever give up on Makoto easily because Makoto already had the key to Kisumi's heart and he hoped Makoto would return his feelings in time.

I'm a sorry sucker and this happens all the time
I found out that everybody talks, EVERYBODY TALKS I think it about time I confess why I did what I did when I was in junior high.
Just the beginning part of what Kisumi said was enough to make Makoto turn his head to the side. He had no idea what to expect or what was going to come after that. He hadn't thought he'd done anything out of the ordinary at all.
Ever since I met you that day, I've had a huge crush on you Makoto.
Makoto's eyes widened almost instantly. Wait. W-What? He had to repeat that in his mind, barely catching what he spoke next but still understanding it. It simply registered a few moments later than it would have normally. He was taken back. He'd never expected Kisumi to say such a thing.
And watching you teach my little brother to swim only made my feelings stronger. You're amazing at everything you do, and the nicest person I've met. That's why I want to be with you as much as I can.
Makoto's face was getting just as red as Kisumi's, if not redder. "K-Kisumi, I-I..." Makoto was completely speechless, unsure how to react to such a thing. He was just so surprised. Makoto's eyes widened as Kisumi took his hand. He felt his skin warm his own, and he stared down, completely unsure what to say. His face was flustered and he looked back up at Kisumi's purple eyes. "K-Kisumi," he repeated his name like a broken record.
If it's not asking too much, I'd really like to go out with you wherever and whenever you'd like. It really makes me happy to see you happy.
"Like... o-on a date?" Makoto couldn't control the shaking of his voice. "K-Kisumi, I-I..." Makoto looked back down at their hands that were intertwined together. Where was this coming from? Had Kisumi really liked him all this time? He really thought he'd just thought of him as a friend. Hell, Makoto just kind of assumed Kisumi liked women which was silly now that he thought about it considering there always seemed to be a girl or two hanging around him and Kisumi hadn't seemed to be particularly interested in dating any of them. He looked back up as Kisumi's face, wondering what he should say. "This is really sudden." He had to admit it.
Makoto searched through his thoughts, trying not to get taken in by the warmth of his hand so he could clearly think about it. Yet, he still was taken in a little, just not for the reasons one normally would be. His brain was just noting that this felt so much different then when he'd held Haru's hand. He wondered if holding hands always felt different depending on the person. Then he found his thoughts wondering further thinking about what it might be like to hold Sousuke's hand. Sousuke.
"Kisumi.... I don't want to hurt your feelings. I think you're absolutely wonderful." Makoto felt a bit of pain in his heart from speaking the words out loud. He really, really, really didn't want to hurt Kisumi, but he didn't know what else to do. "There are so many great things about you. You're an absolute monster on the basketball court. And I mean that in the greatest possible way. It's just..." His eyes hit the ground, still viewing their locked hands in the corner of his eye. "I like someone else." He spit the words out, very afraid to hurt Kisumi. "And I don't know entirely if he thinks of me the way I think of him, but I want to wait around to find out... I want to see if there's a chance he might... eventually consider me as more than a friendly face to get coffee with." He shifted his vision, looking at their hands once more with a sad expression on his face. And... I want to hold his hand...
"I'm so sorry, Kisumi..." The apology came out in a whisper. The hurt inside of Makoto was definitely real in that moment, and he couldn't stop it from being reflected on the outside. | | 684 words | x3 |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Kisumi was flattered to hear how great he was at basketball, but he was saddened a little to hear that Makoto actually liked someone else. The pink-haired male quickly mentally reassured himself that he and Makoto could still be friends. However, Kisumi was curious about who this other person was that Makoto was so interested in. "It's okay Makoto, we can still be friends right? Besides, I'd like to know who this guy you like so much is. I'd recommend telling him how you feel or simply kissing him. If they like you, they will be sure to return the favor. My bet is that they feel the same about you Makoto." Kisumi said to Makoto still cheerily and accepted the fact that Makoto's heart belonged to another male that the brunette had a strong connection with.
The pink-haired male wondered if he would ever be able to find that special someone by the time he graduated from Tokyo University. Kisumi then came up with an idea of helping Makoto with his romantic interest in return for helping him find someone at the University. "If you're okay with it, I could help you with your current romantic interest if you are willing to help me find someone that's interested in me." Kisumi said as he proposed the deal, hoping that something good might come out of it. He felt like this was his last chance at a relationship because he doubted that he would have time to search for a relationship after he finally goes pro. Kisumi wasn't blind to the fact that he would be able to play in the basketball league, and was hoping to at least date someone.
