KISUMI SHIGINO
Personality: Kisumi is a very friendly person that is quick to make friends. He is also very good at being a big brother for Hayato, who he loves very much. However, he's actually quite a flirt with boys while his skill in Basketball made him really popular with the girls. He has a long-standing obsession over Makoto, who he wants to get alone to have a relationship with while it appears he is stealing Makoto from everyone else at the same time. If there is one thing he likes more than the subject of boys, it's basketball; a sport he has a passion for and has put it a lot of hard work to get and keep his body in optimal physical condition. If he ever got the chance, Kisumi would be more than happy to show off his hard work, even if it were a wet T-shirt competition. The pink-haired teen longs for a relationship with another boy, who he will be able to wake up to see every morning. Kisumi is even open to dating any of the boys on his team, if they wanted to genuinely go out with him and if he could somehow get over his obsession with Makoto.
Kisumi isn't only protective of his little brother, but he's also protective of his friends. He will stand up for his friends if they are bullied or made fun of by others. Kisumi will actually go as far as using himself as a shield to protect his friends if he ever needs to do so. He often hides it behind a smile, but Kisumi is very afraid of being alone and by himself. This is because he starts to feel sad when he is alone with nothing to distract him. He believes that if he finds a romantic relationship, he won't have to worry about ever truly being alone again. He likes to surround himself with attention as much as possible so that he can keep his mind from drifting into melancholy. If given the chance, he would prefer a shared dorm over one he will have entirely to himself.

He eventually discovered that he had some talent in Basketball and started to train himself in the sport to get better. By the time he finally attended junior high, he was one of the few MVPs on the Basketball team with very good accuracy and agility. It was also around this time that he discovered that he was somewhat attracted to Makoto and attempted to get him to join the Basketball team, but the brunette kept on declining. Still, that didn't stop him from attempting to steal Makoto from his friends. When Rin finally left Japan to study abroad in Australia, Kisumi tried to cheer Haruka up by feeding him food on occasion. This only resulted in Haru eventually deciding to avoid the pink-haired boy in whatever way he could.
Kisumi would eventually have to part ways with his classmates when he finally went to a high school other than Iwatobi and Samezuka Academy. At the high school he excelled in Basketball and became very popular with the girls. Kisumi embraced the attention while he started to fully accept his sexuality and savored the moments when he got to see his team mates shirtless. He also liked to show off his hard work whenever he had the chance. He eventually learned from his parents and Hayato's school, that Hayato wasn't participating in swimming in gym class because he felt like he was being rushed too much. As a result, parents registered Hayato to take classes at Iwatobi Swim Club Returns. Kisumi eventually met Makoto once again at the building, and was happy to see him again. He later divulged that it was his own fault that Hayato was afraid to swim because his younger brother fell out of the boat and nearly drowned. Makoto promised Kisumi that he would teach Hayato how to swim, and he was successful in teaching the younger brother the backstroke. The result led to Hayato finally enjoying the activity of swimming and the little boy grew fond of Makoto. This actually made Kisumi's crush on Makoto even stronger, and he reunited with Haruka who simply avoided him. He met Sousuke in the hospital, who wore a look of surprise and just walked away.

Kisumi gladly accepted the scholarship and enrolled in Tokyo University with the hope that Makoto and the others would be attending as well. Needless to say, he does want to be an olympic competitor and get a boyfriend of his own before he graduates from the university. Kisumi still visits his brother occasionally to keep in touch, and still thinks about Hayato first before his own needs or wants.
