Personality: Nakano is slow. He's slow with people and he's slow with life. He likes to take his time with every new person he meets, even if deep down he knows they probably won't click at the end. Time is precious -he knows-, yet he can't stop himself from wasting his on anything that catches his attention. He doesn't actually care about said thing (that being a person, an animal, or even a book); he just doesn't like having nothing to do in his life.
Another thing he doesn't like is endings. They're harsh on him. He fears them. And to avoid them, he rarely turns in homework, so that the teachers never leave him alone, and he never attends club activities, because he's already almost attached to the people in his class, and he doesn't need another class to get attached to with high school slowly coming to an end. He's indecisive for the same reason, and will go along with the general suggestion instead of voicing his own opinions.
Aside this strong inner fear of endings, Nakano is a strong person. His family helped with that. Growing up in a pretty hostile environment, he managed to nurture his confidence instead of giving up and growing into a victim. He forces himself to see the good in every situation, and even make it up if there is none at all. However, he won't do this for anyone other than himself. If the time comes when he has to help someone through a difficult situation, he most likely won't do it, unless he actually cares for that someone, which is rare.
He's generally not someone you can rely on. That doesn't mean he's hostile though. He's pretty friendly and fun to hang out with when he's in the mood. He's that guy everyone sorta knows, who will go out with you to the arcade to kill time, or treat you to ice cream since he's pretty rich. But for anything further than that, one would need to push a lot to catch his interest, and even then, development would be slow.

History: His father is a true businessman. He makes good money, and his wife makes sure to put it to (good) use. It was one of those arranged marriages; he took her for her face and she took him for his money. They weren't dissatisfied at all as a couple, until Takahiro decided it was time for an heir to appear, and Yuki was not exactly ready for it. That's how Nakano came to be. He never truly became part of the family, even though he was biologically their son. He was there for his name, nothing more. His mother rarely paid attention to him, and when she did, it was to scold him for any sort of imperfection he'd show. She saw him as a burden, and didn't hesitate to show it. His father was not even present in Nakano's life. He's literally seen the man up close only about twenty times in his whole life. He sometimes forgets what he sounds like.
Ignorance towards him continued for the first ten years of his life, with the scolding slowly quieting down, leaving only a few irritated looks and sighs. Nakano from his side though never really gave up on his parents. He still tried to please his mother, and even behaved the best he could whenever his father was around. He'd gathered it was futile, but he was afraid that something worse would happen to him if he gave up; something he couldn't even put to words. He found an escape in school, but due to his experiences from back home, he couldn't keep any stable relationships. It was still better than nothing.
Ten years after him, came his brother. This one was different. Supposedly, his mother had cheated on his father and had gotten herself pregnant, but for some reason, his father accepted to keep it and let Yuki raise it. This one was loved. Nakano still thinks it's just a stun to spite her husband, but his mother seemed to love this child much more than anything else she showed interest in. Of course there was some unspoken jealousy between the siblings (mostly from Nakano's part), but it faded, and with it faded the idea that Nakano might have a chance at establishing a healthy connection with his direct family.
He was sent away to Samezuka to "maybe make something of himself" (in his mother's words), but mostly because he was gradually becoming a bigger burden for her and Samezuka was a boarding school.
