Personality:
Keiko does not take tasks lightly, which almost seems uncharacteristic of her since she acts like a free spirit most of the time. Any challenge she is faced with, she will work hard to achieve, even if it is the simplest thing such asforcing asking a friend to watch her concert. Although she does not resort to violence, rather wits and plans which she believes are irresistible to the person she is attempting to persuade. It's not that she is some super intelligent being who acts all high and mighty, she just prefers to think logically against acting before finding out whether or not the task is dangerous. Although in certain situations, Kei is impulsive and will not hesitate to do drastic measures. To make a long story short, she is spontaneous and unpredictable.
The only positive thing that comes from her deadly disease would be the way it has made her understanding. Before being diagnosed with ALS Kei only thought about herself and how she could play around with others to feel self satisfaction, being the ignorant kid she once was. However after seeing the effect which her illness had on others, she became thoughtful and more understanding, even though she still will push people beyond there limits, but within reason. If she knows someone will be affected for a long period of time by her actions, this effect being negative of course, she will stop before it goes any further. Yet if she guesses the result will not be totally horrific she will go along with it.
Kei is far from perfect, not willing to show any mercy towards concerts which strictly ask for not adjustments to the scores of the pieces. She will do everything in her power to attract the audiences attention, even if it means she gets disqualified. She will live her life on the edge, since it's not like she has much of a life anyways. Towards people she is close with, or people on her bad side, she will show aggression towards if they step out of line, but in no way will she truly harm them, for that she would never forgive herself.
Kei has never revealed the truth about her life, nor that she is constantly visiting the hospital in order to stay alive. She is not one to make people worry, so she shuts away the darkness inside and allows it to build up, however it does not haunt her too horribly. Feelings are things she can either be blunt with or hostile about, there is strictly no in between. If she likes someone she will tell them upfront, stating that she would like to be friends, as far as romance goes however she will take a slower approach.

Overall Kei is a playfully horrific person who is generally easy to get along with.
History:
Kei grew up in a loving, sharing household which believed in hope and faith no matter what the situation was. Unfortunately it appeared she had made the wrong stop. Being born with ALS and not finding out that she had it until the age of 7 had been difficult on this loving family. Kei hated to watch her parents live through sleepless nights and waves of tears. She wanted to change her life more than anything, however this was not possible.
To make up for the trouble she thought she was causing, Kei would try her hardest to make them laugh happily and forget about the problem right in front of them. The one act which made them feel the best was when she would act care free, as if the disease which was slowly killing her made no impact on her life. In all honesty, this made her feel the best too.
Entering school had not been easy for Kei. She would be picked up from school early every day to be given a check up by the doctors, causing the kids to spread rumors about her. Thankfully none of the rumors were bad, but they caused her to feel a strong sense of guilt. She was lucky enough to convince her parents to push the daily appointments till after school, resulting in the gossip to tone down.
For most of her life, up till middle school, Kei had just been going through the actions of survival, not being given a real reason to fight. It was the motivation of her family and friends that kept her alive. One day when she was walking home from school, a pool caught her attention, it wasn't anything special, it was just the same old pool. Although the way the cheery blossoms swirled around the water made a spark erupt inside of her. The scenery was beautiful and she felt the sudden urge to jump inside, even if she was very weak. So that's what she did, not wasting a second she had plunged into the pool, not minding that her clothes were soaked, and laughed to her heart's content.
But this was a one time thing. It wasn't anything special, just another memory. That's all it was, right?
After that event she couldn't get swimming off of her mind, it was a strange feeling that she couldn't tell even her parents, for she knew they would be upset. Kei was physically too weak to even consider swimming so she decided to not get into anything having to do with water or sports in that case.
Abandoning her desire to join the middle school swim team, Kei instead began playing the violin, mastering it after a few years of constant none stop practices. From time to time she would feel light headed from the amount of work being done, however after being given new medicine she grew stronger, even strong enough to join the swim team if she wanted to. Kei rejected the chance and continued along the path with music, only swimming for fun.
When Kei could no longer push aside her burning thirst for swimming, she asked her parents to sign her up for private coaching, which they were reluctant to do at first. ALS had taken away a huge amount of her energy and they did not want to see it go to waste. After a few days of bickering, the answer finally was given as a yes, but only if she took her doctor appointments seriously.
Kei was trained to master butterfly, the special stroke which made her feel stronger. Although the training had been difficult and painful, the end result was amazing. She had become one step closer to adapting to ALS.
Just when everything seemed to be going perfectly, Kei fainted during a swim lesson, ending in a fatal visit to the hospital. Her parents feared sending her back to the coach, not wanting to loose her to the disease she had been fighting. Instead of making her family decide the hard choice, Kei dropped swimming and went back to music, attempting to push aside memories of the good times she had.
Now that she is in high school, Kei hopes to be able to enroll in the swimming club, once and for all becoming a free spirit, ALS no longer limiting her. She now lives her days as if they were the last, knowing sooner or later the illness might take away her life, although she still hopes for the best.
