Personality:
Daichi is easily described as a loner. He's never really made friends or really thought about making any friends aside from online. He's an introvert at heart, perfectly content with just being by himself. When he's out in public, he's almost always wearing his headphones so that nobody talks to him. On occasion, he's even pretended not to hear some of the people who have spoken to him. He's not mean or rude, he just prefers not to get stuck in small talk. When he does interact, he's not actually rude in all of his responses to people, but he will make sure to try and cut the conversation short. If he does get stuck in a conversation with another human being, he'll continue to ask them questions so that way they'll just keep talking about themselves, and he won't have to say to much on his part.
Part of the reason he keeps to himself is because he doesn't really feel anyone else will have the same interests as him. He's a big fan of manga and anime, and there are quite a few who would probably label him as a little weird for it. He had no interest in talking about his hobbies with others. He's not against sports or anything like that, he would just rather go home and play a game on his computer. As of now, he hasn't even considered joining and clubs or teams at his school.
If someone is persistent enough, there is a chance that Daichi will open up a little bit. However, he hasn't really run into anyone who's made that happen in his life. To outsiders, Daichi probably doesn't seem like he has emotions, but in reality he has plenty. He just keeps them bottled up inside. However, he does have a couple of internet friends that he talks to. Online, he feels like he acts more like himself considering he meets more people who are like him. He actually has a pretty stupid sense of humor, laughing at the most random of things. He could be talking to someone in real life and seem very distant, while in actuality trying to contain his laughter while sending off a text to one of his online friends.
There are times when although Daichi tells himself he's happy living his life invisibly, he may not be. He has moments when he feels like the smallest fish in the sea, but that's probably because he never really go much notice by his family growing up. He occasionally wishes he could be more out going, but knows there's no point in faking it. He's also got no idea what he's going to do after high school, not really being interested in any professions.

History:
Daichi Iwahara never really had that difficult of a childhood. He grew up in Iwatobi, his mother deciding it was a charming place to raise her family. His parents were well off. There was always food on the table, and he usually got just about anything he could have ever asked for within reason. Sometimes they'd even throw money at him just to get him to go away. That's how it felt, anyways. The only issue Daichi really had with his parents having money was that they were always traveling, barely ever home. It felt more like Daichi was being raised by his two older brothers than anyone else. Even then, usually at least one of them ended up going with his parents. Daichi didn't get to travel nearly as much as his siblings. There was always one excuse or another why he couldn't come.
Another thing that always kind of bummed him out was that his parents also paid much more attention to his two older brothers. They were smart, out-going, and both very talented at almost anything they seemed to want to try. Daichi, on the other hand, was average in just about every way. His grades weren't impressive, and he didn't really push himself very hard to match his older siblings. He's never been a very competitive person. Even when it comes to something hes good at, like computer games, he's always been one to try and make sure all of his online friends are having just as much fun. If that meant holding back, that's what he did. Being good at games unfortunately meant nothing in his house hold. Growing up, he felt completely invisible compared to his brothers. Whenever his parents had friends over, it was always mandatory for his brothers to make an appearance, but he was never asked to. Not even the fact that he was good at art was enough to catch his parent's attention.
When Daichi was about ten years old, his parents had another child. This time, it was a little girl. As she got older, it turned out that she was actually very fond of Daichi. She was always hanging around him, asking way too many questions, and bothering him. She always preferred him to put her to sleep rather than anyone else in the household. It's always confused Daichi, finding himself to be unimportant, and he found it a little annoying at times. Still, he was greatful that someone in his family finally took note of his existence.
Daichi is still just keeping to himself, living his own life. His older brothers moved out of the house, but he finds they still tend to be there way too often. He's still slipping through the halls of his school like a ghost and spending most of his nights on his computer talking to a bunch of people he's never met in person. He's got no plans for his own future, and is currently content with the way things are. He's not looking forward to life after high school, knowing that there's only a short time left before he's completely lost.
