Personality: Aki has always been that odd kid, the one who doesn’t seem to gather many friends and spends most of their time playing alone. Since he was little, he has always been drawn to the ocean. His mother would take him out kayaking and would later teach him how to swim when he was old enough. Aki has never that out going or seem to be able to be the popular kid. He is more content being by himself however; there is a part of him that wishes that was different.
As he grew older, his personality troubles only grew as he began to realize that his dad cared more about his work than him and after his mother’s death. He became more withdrawn and barely spoke to anyone around him. His only outlet for his troubles was swimming and so did his risk taking. It was all a means to act out against his father. His didn’t care what happened to himself.
But that soon changed when a person came into his life and showed him that there was more than just acting out. That person showed him that he was a good person deep down and that he could have more.
Overall, Aki is a serious person who knows to have a little fun now and then. He tends to be a bit of workaholic at anything he does. A bit of trouble maker who takes risk when he has no other choice… A quiet and withdrawn person who tends to open up when people get past the walls he has set up. He is also the kind of guy who would take the shirt off his back if meant helping out someone he cares about.
History: Aki was born into an already torn family. His mother was usually home by herself when she wasn’t working as a teacher at the high school because his father was usually away on business trips or busy working in his study. Which meant when his mother wasn’t around, he was raised with the help of nannies. Life was pretty good for him for the most part even though he didn’t seem to make many friends. He was happy to just play on the beach and in the water anytime the weather allowed it.
His life started to change just after he turned six, his mother became rather ill and his father was nowhere to be seen. This pretty much left his mother care up to him and the nanny at the time. It was around Christmas that his mother passed away. His father didn’t even come up for the funeral. Almost a week later when he came home from school, he found the house empty and only the nanny there to take him to the airport.
When they landed at the airport in London, he was traded off to another nanny. Life just became something to rebel against since that point on. Aki didn’t even bother trying to make friends anymore, picking fights when he could, skipping school even trying to run away a few times. But in the end, he was always found and taking back to the nanny and the house staff.
By the time he was fourteen, the only thing that really mattered in his life was swimming, often times sneaking into closed pools just to get some more time into the water. It was during one of these nights that his life would take a turn for the better. After swimming, a couple laps he came to the surface at the edge of the pool and he came up to take a break only to be greeted by another male kneeled down there. Instead of being busted like he thought he was, they ended up talking most of the night away. Mostly about how he could improve and that he should seriously look into going professional with his swimming.
Over the next two years with the of Koi, he started to change and become a more open person and started to do better not only in school but excelling in swimming. Winning almost every event he took place in the UK, Europe and even in the states. It was also in those two years, he that he grown rather attached to Koi and they even had taken things to the next level even though Koi was ten years older than him and fought Aki at first on this.
Things would soon change again for Aki during a serve thunderstorm in the middle of the summer. They were driving back from practice when the storm suddenly hit them. The rain was coming down in sheets, and they didn’t see the semi truck lose control until it was too late. Aki was barely awake when he saw Koi pass away in front of him in the over turned sports car. It just wasn’t Koi that he lost that night, he would spent the next six months in the hospital recovering from his injuries that would leave him with a slight limp and some lingering pain in his left shoulder and side.
Instead of returning to London to his father, he took off to Iwatobi to where Koi family lived and own a restaurant. The family took him in as they saw him as their second son, unaware of the kind of relationship that Koi and he had. It was another start to his life and one he was unsure of how things were going to work out.
