Personality:
Gou has a very outgoing personality. To be honest, some might even find her annoying – especially once they realize that her obsession with looking at nice muscles isn't just a façade that's meant to scare people away...she honestly likes looking at them. In this sense, one might see her as a bit shallow...and they wouldn't be completely wrong. She knows for a fact that she wouldn't date anyone that didn't have muscles that she could ogle at any time of the day. She also knows that she would never date a wuss that would get scared the second that her brother looked at them...well, glared because Gou was pretty sure that Rin glared at pretty much everyone.
She's not all about appearance, though...okay, that's a bold-faced lie...but at the same time, it's not.
Gou is a girl who is very honest about what she likes and what she wants. More than that, though, she's willing to do pretty much anything in order to achieve what she wants. If that meant someone may end up doing something that they don't really want to do, then so be it.

History:
It was a cold night in early December when Gou Matsuoka was born in Iwatobi, Japan. Of course, she didn't live there for too long. Along with her mother, she had moved in with her grandmother shortly after her father's death. That hadn't necessarily stopped her brother from convincing her mother to let him transfer to an Iwatobi-based primary school a few years later, though. To be honest, though, Gou hadn't been all that surprised that her big brother had wanted to swim for Iwatobi at least once during his lifetime.
She couldn't remember much about her father...but Gou knew for a fact that he used to be a swimmer, just like her brother. Then again, she had never been much of an athlete anyway. Despite the fact that both her father and brother were swimmers, Gou could barely keep herself afloat – which was the main reason that she avoided her brother's swimming practices. Unfortunately for her, though, there had been a few times where she had no choice but to watch her brother swim. The fact that nobody at his practices or swim meets had tried to make her swim...it was something that she had honestly never expected – but that didn't mean that it was an unwelcome surprise. In fact, she had been extremely glad that they didn't just expect her to be an amazing swimmer.
After all, if they had expected her to be a good swimmer...then they surely would have been disappointed.
On the bright side, though, Gou had been finally able to meet her brother's friends from the swimming club. By the time that she met them, though, the only person she could really remember was Haruka Nanase. After all, he had been the one that her brother had been practically obsessed with during his time in Australia if she remembered things correctly.
Despite the fact that Haruka was the one she remembered, it had been Makoto Tachibana that convinced her to become the manager for the newly-formed Iwatobi Swim Club. That stupid little brat Nagisa had, of course, tried to get her to join as an actual swimmer...but she had somehow been able to avoid showing them all that she couldn't swim to save her life.
Of course, now that Haruka and Makoto have graduated...she's not so sure that she'll be able to avoid having to swim for too much longer.
